Child Safety Standards

Last updated: 29 September 2026 · English translation: 16 October 2026

This is an English translation of the Turkish original. If you use Espi in a language other than Turkish or English, this English text applies to you. If the two versions differ, the Turkish version prevails.

Espi applies zero tolerance to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This page explains which behaviour is prohibited, how to report it, and what happens after a report.

Espi is not designed for photos of people in the first place

One of Espi’s three rules is this: the subject of a shot can’t be a person. The app checks every shot when it is shared and warns if a person stands out. The product is about showing a place, not a person. This means images involving children already have no place on Espi — the details are on the rules page: Community Rules.

What is prohibited

These apply to every field in the app, including comments, captions and usernames.

Age limit

Espi is closed to anyone under 16. Your birth year is asked when you open an account and years under 16 are rejected. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we close the account and delete its data.

How to report

Inside the app:

After you choose the reason, an explanation field opens; describe the situation there. Every report pointing to child safety is put in the highest-priority queue, whatever reason was chosen.

Outside the app — if you don’t have an account or it’s urgent:

[email protected]

Write “Child safety report” in the subject line. This address goes directly to the person responsible for this at Espi and is handled within 24 hours.

What happens after a report

  1. The content is removed from view without waiting for review.
  2. If confirmed, the account is permanently closed and the same person is prevented from opening a new account.
  3. The material and account records are kept for the legal retention period, and only in order to pass them to the authorities.
  4. The case is reported to the relevant authorities: in Türkiye, to the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), and internationally to NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children).
  5. The reporter’s identity is not shared with the owner of the content.

Misuse

Using this channel to silence or punish someone is also prohibited. Accounts that deliberately make false child safety reports are closed — genuine reports being handled quickly depends on it.
